Photocatalytic self-cleaning nanotechnology coating with antibacterial properties for porous surfaces

SurfaShield ™ provides antibacterial and self-cleaning properties on high porosity surfaces such as cement, paving slabs, coatings, joints and rocks. With the help of nanotechnology and without affecting the physical appearance of the surfaces, continuous functionality of “smart” structural surfaces is achieved.

SurfaShield ™ overlays pores and binds to porous surfaces. It then absorbs ambient light by converting light energy into chemicals: Having photocatalytic semiconductor properties, light creates short-lived oxidizing radicals after reacting with oxygen and atmospheric water. Microorganisms, bacteria, viruses, mold, organic stains, environmental pollutants, inks and odors are gradually destroyed due to the SurfaShield ™ ‘s interaction with light.

In addition, it acts as a surface shield: Interaction with light makes surfaces superhydrophilic. Thus, as the water flows without forming droplets, the surfaces are cleaned much easier and the accumulation of contaminants that would age and damage the surfaces is prevented. Greater surface protection is achieved when the application of the photocatalytic coating is preceded by waterproofing with SurfaPore ™ or SurfaPore ™ .

Ideal for protection against organic stains and inks, maintenance and protection of monuments, self-cleaning walls and coatings, environmental restoration and elimination of odors. It prevents the “tanning” of surfaces and their gradual aging, cleans the atmosphere, destroys pollutants and prevents bacteria and the growth of microorganisms.
