Nanophos innovates nanotech for better performance in construction, energy, healthcare.
With a strong focus on the energy sector, NanoPhos has already developed innovative materials since its foundation that are concerned with energy saving, always with respect for the environment in mind.
Since almost the beginning of the company, he has managed to complete the patenting of SurfaShield™ G.
SurfaShield™ G is an innovative self-cleaning coating based on titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) photocatalytic technology for photovoltaic installations.
By reducing the amount of sunlight reflected from the solar panels, absorbing more of the scattered light and preventing the accumulation of dust, soot or pollutants. In this way, the ultra-hydrophilic composition of SurfaShield™ G facilitates the cleaning of the photovoltaic surface, minimizing maintenance costs.
In 2010 the product won the 1st innovation prize at the Big5 Dubai International Exhibition.

Focusing on the energy sector, NanoPhos has already developed innovative energy-saving materials since its inception, always driven environmental awareness. The patent of SurfaShield ™ G, has been finalized by the RnD team, long time ago as an innovative self-cleaning coating based on the photocatalytic technology of titanium dioxide (TiO2) for photovoltaic installations. The main target is to • reduce the amount of sunlight reflected from the solar panels, • absorb more of the scattered light, • prevent the accumulation of dust, soot, or dirt. In this way, the super-hydrophilic composition of SurfaShield ™ G facilitates the cleaning of the photovoltaic surface, minimizing maintenance costs. In 2010 the product won the 1st Innovation Award at the Big5 Dubai International Exhibition.
According to the recent Energy* scientific study, published by Elsevier, entitled “Improving Solar PV Panel Performance with Active Self-Cleaning Nanotechnology of SurfaShield™ G”, SurfaShield™ G, developed and produced by NanoPhos, its contribution to the improvement of the energy power of solar collectors (PV Panels) is confirmed. SurfaShield™ G, as a “smart” TiO 2 -based nanocoating, exhibits impressive self-cleaning and reflective properties. After continuous tests on solar panel installations, under difficult environmental conditions in Jordan, for a period of three months, the scientific results confirmed a 20% improvement in maximum power and 2.3% in efficiency respectively.

Application method during scientific study
The cleaning method of the PV installation was completed and recorded by a certified scientific laboratory. SurfaShield® G was applied by the spray method to a 150W monocrystalline photovoltaic panel, while the results were recorded in comparison with uncoated panel surfaces of the same characteristics.
SurfaShield® G exhibited excellent photocatalytic and super-hydrophilic properties as well as maximum durability. The transmission of the coated surface showed an improvement of 1.8% on a clean surface and 6.1% on a dusty surface respectively, compared to the uncoated surface. The performance of the coated and uncoated panels in the demanding climatic conditions of Jordan were recorded and tested over a period of 3 months in order to measure the extra strength produced after the surface was coated with SurfaShield® G . An improvement of 0.35% in maximum power and 0.1% in maximum efficiency was recorded compared to uncoated collector surfaces in the absence of dust. After 3 months of surface dust accumulation, a 20% increase in peak power and a corresponding 2.3% increase in efficiency were recorded.
